Arihia lives in Opotiki and has worked in travel and tourism for both the private and public sectors. This includes working for the Inbound Tour Operators Council, Māori Arts & Crafts Institute and United Travel. Arihia has also worked for a number of Māori development organisations including; Poutama Trust, Waipareira Trust, Manukau Urban Māori Authority and Whakatōhea Māori Trust Board.
Nowadays she works as a private contractor in areas such as human resources, economic development, health and social services. She is a member of the Human Resource Institute of New Zealand and the New Zealand Institute of Directors, and is a Local Government Councillor.
Arihia holds a Masters in International Business Management and has been awarded a New Zealand Scholarship for the Pacific Asia Travel Executive Programme.
